Getting Around

Michael Case writes:In the Getting Around working group, we’re very fortunate to cover a policy area that has already been subject to substantial thinking. We’ve therefore been busy familiarising ourselves with the body of studies and opinions that already provide a great deal of insight into transport within our Soho neighbourhood. Our aims are to understand the number and nature of journeys that Soho plays host to; be they by foot, bicycle, car, taxi or any other means. What is clear is that in such a central neighbourhood, there is competition to move through and to Soho in the most efficient way by many modes of travel.Ultimately we want to consider policy provisions for the neighbourhood that help encourage travel through Soho that is sustainable for the community, efficient for our residents, workers and visitors, and best encourages the amenable sharing of our networkof roads and pavements.
