Record Store Day 22 April 2017 Soho special FREE screening: The Brian Epstein Story documentary

The Museum of Soho and The British Record Shop Archive present a special free screening of the BBC documentary, The Brian Epstein Story at 2pm, Saturday 22 April Record Store Day, the 50th Anniversary year of Brian Epstein's death. This film is from Arena, the BBC's multi award-winning arts strand. Founded in 1975, Arena continues to produce gold standard documentaries for the BBC.The screening will be introduced by the director and Arena series editor, Anthony Wall. The film is a two-part film examining the turbulent life and career of The Beatles manager Brian Epstein. For centuries Soho has been synonymous with innovation in music and the connections between Soho and the Beatles are many - for example, they recorded The White Album at Soho's Trident Studios. Epstein was a gambler, shopkeeper and failed actor, he was also a pop king with a Midas touch who, in the 1960s, was as well known as the band he managed, The Beatles. Epstein was gay when homosexuality was illegal and 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act, which decriminalised gay relationships between men over 21 in England and Wales.  It took until 1980 for the law to be changed in Scotland, and 1982 for Wales. The screening will take place at: 01zero-one, Hopkins street, London, W1F 0HSTo attend the screening book your free tickets via: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-brian-epstein-story-a-special-free-screening-introduced-by-the-director-and-arena-series-editor-tickets-33452572545The Museum of Soho is an independent, #community based group committed to creating a safe haven for artefacts and documents relating to #Soho #LondonThey have a large, interactive Touch-screen in Sherwood Street where visitors can access galleries, photographs and articles about Soho. You can follow the Museum of Soho on twitter @TheMuseumOfSoho and on instagram @themuseumofsoho.
